Castles is a mix of strategy and resource management from Interplay that involves, as the name suggests, building castles in medieval Europe. Players face the added challenge of needing to plan ahead and prepare for both expected and unexpected circumstances, which made Castles a very challenging game.
It was originally released in 1991 for the IBM PC and later ported to the Amiga and Atari ST-computers. This was unlike most games at the time, which were ported to the PC as an afterthought, and not originally intended for the IBM market. This was a sign of the times, as people were starting to realize the growing strength of PCs, and shifting their focus accordingly.
