Thimbleweed Park

Thimbleweed Park is a point-and-click adventure game. The game is a spiritual successor to Gilbert and Winnick's previous games Maniac Mansion (1987) and The Secret of Monkey Island (1990), The game is designed to be similar to graphic adventure games released in that time period, both visually and gameplay-wise.
The game has a third person perspective, with a view of the area taking up the majority of the screen, while the bottom portion is taken up by the player's inventory and a list of verbs, such as "use", "pick up", and "talk to". If you have played Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion you’ll certainly recognise the controls and feel of the game.

Ron Gilbert wanted to parody the TV shows Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and True Detective. The story revolves around FBI agents Ray and Reyes who arrive at the town of Thimbleweed Park to investigate a murder. And so the plot thickens and many interesting characters show up. The story is very entertaining and humorous and contains many funny references to goodie games from the past.

Two things that make this game absolutely amazing and well worth the Old New Game stamp, is that Gilbert decided to use his own game engine to create the game instead of using one of the new ready made engines. The other thing that I absolutely love is the fact that he released the game in standard Big Box PC format with several extra items.
